Lockdown has been tough on many of us - but Castle Comedy is ready to bring the laughter back with two outdoor comedy shows.

The outdoor comedy specials are set to take place on Thursday, May 20 and Thursday, June 10 at Henlow Bridge Lakes - featuring star names, beautiful surroundings, socially distance seating, table service and of course plenty of laughs.

And there will also be VIP covered seating options.

Paul Revill, the Bedford-based stand up comedian behind Castle Comedy, explained: "It was a nightmare year for live comedy last year, everyone's world changed overnight. Lots of incredibly talented, funny and lovely people saw their diaries empty and their way of living stop.

"There was a couple of small windows when live comedy was allowed and I tried to make the most of them. Adaptability was key, the majority of shows were outdoors which turned out to be brilliant fun. The sun shone for most of them but people were quite prepared to dress like they were going on an Arctic expedition to enjoy a laugh outside!"

He added: "It's been five months since I've put on a show or performed comedy. That's the longest time I've not been on stage since I started comedy a decade ago!

"I've missed it and I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time it does feel a bit like going back to school after the summer holidays!

"I know I'll love it when I'm there but I'm going to miss eating my tea and watching Neighbours at 5.30pm.

"Most of all I'm really hopeful that comedy is coming back for good. We could all do with a laugh!"

Opening the show on May 20 is Laura Lexx, an award-winning comedian and a natural storyteller who can tease a grin from pretty much anyone! She has appeared on Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Hypothetical and Comedy Central's Roast Battle.

Closing the show is Paul Tonkinson. He is a sensational live performer, Yorkshire man, marathon runner and former (double award-winning) Time Out Comedian of the Year. He has appeared on Michael Mcintyre's Comedy Roadshow, Comedy Central's The Comedy Store and The World Stands-up.

The show on June 10 features Hal Cruttenden and Zoe Lyons Hal has hosted Live at the Apollo! Performed twice at The Royal Variety Performance, appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Have I Got News For You.

Zoe is a regular on Mock The Week and has appeared on Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and hosted her own teatime TV quiz show, Lightning!.

All the shows will feature support from top UK comedians and are hosted by Castle Comedy's Paul Revill.

Doors Open at 6.30pm and the Shows Start at 8pm. Tickets for the shows are £15 (plus booking fee) from the Castle Comedy website.
