Folk-pop singer Ollie Bond debuted his new track on March 5, and has been using the pandemic as a creative force and a source of inspiration.

The musician and Warwick University student has been determined not to let coronavirus put a stop to his musical journey, and hopes that his latest single will encourage people to open up about their mental health.

Ollie said: “This ghostly tune came to me one rainy day whilst drinking my morning coffee. The song is about a young actress trying to make it in the world, but after getting knocked down so much she becomes isolated.

“There’s also a heavy emphasis on mental health and how you never really know what anyone else is feeling on the inside.

“I may have gone down this route due to the rain pouring against the window (which features in the record) or due to the reality of coming to grips with my own struggles.”

Ollie is in his seventh year studying medicine at Warwick University, and hopes that the world will be back to normal soon so he can enjoy the thrill of live performances once again.

Originally from Sandy, he is very grateful for all the support he has received from his fans in Bedfordshire.

Ollie said: “Fans have reacted really well to this more recent chilled-out sound of mine, but there’s some new songs in the pipeline that are a bit more upbeat - so we shall see what happens!

“For me, the most enjoyable thing about recording these songs in lockdown is finding that it actually is possible to make these records entirely from your bedroom wardrobe - I think that’s something we’re starting to see a lot more in the music industry now anyway, with Taylor Swift releasing two huge albums last year recorded at home.”

He added: “My plans for the future are to finish my exams over the next two months and to hopefully get an album out later this year once I’m settled in a new part of the country.”
