Las Vegas was the glittering venue for Sweet Adelines International Contest for ladies’ barbershop singing.
And there among the bright lights and glittering stars, representing the UK, was a little bit of Bedfordshire - the Phoenix A Cappella Chorus from Potton.
President Lou Ward said: “We are proud and thrilled to have won 20th place in the world out of hundreds of choruses.” She added: “The cavernous Garden Arena at MGM Grand Las Vegas was a fantastic venue, just the place to bring out the performer in everyone.”
The competition attracts choruses of all sizes from around the globe.
Lou said: “They’re all medallists in their regional contests, all competing for a place in the top ranks of this genre . . . it’s a week long festival of song and dance with smiles, sequins and fabulous singing at its heart.”
This was Phoenix’s second international contest and they’ll be working hard to achieve their goal of making it to the next, and all the ones after that.
The Chorus welcomes new members aged 16 and over and is happy for visitors to sit in on rehearsals.
These take place from 7.30pm on Tuesday evenings and take place at Potton Lower School.
