Out of dates town signs could be set to get a makeover thanks to a local graphic designer.
Biggleswade Town Council is hoping to meet with Adam Turney after he sent a proposal to the council offering to help bring the town’s signage and wayfinding back up to date.
Adam explained: “The current design and its inability to effectively direct users, since there are many shops listed that have since closed down, shows Biggleswade as a town that is unable to move with the times, a town that does not care for new visitors and a town that is unable to maintain basic facilities, thus possibly putting off potential investors.”
Adam, who worked with Anglia Ruskin University’s estates department to redesign the university’s mapping and signage, has offered to work with the council free of charge – meaning it would only need to meet the printing costs.
The proposal covers both the market square and the retail park on London Road, which is currently being redeveloped.
The town council said it was keen to take him up on his offer, although it expressed a concern over who would keep the signs up to date in the future.
