Proud Deb sure means business!

THE co-director of a marketing company is celebrating after scooping the Bedfordshire Business Woman of the Year 2011 award.

Deb Markham, who runs The Product Marketing Company in Shefford with Tim Gale was announced as the winner at the Bedfordshire Business Women awards on Thursday last week (November 17).

The awards, which are sponsored by the Biggleswade Chronicle recognise Bedfordshire women who have excelled in business.

Deb, who won the award after being nominated by a colleague said: “I really love my job and it was a real surprise to be announced as the winner.

“I knew I had been nominated but I didn’t think I was going to be one of the front runners for the award.”

Tim and Deb established the firm three years ago after working together previously.

The company has five permament members of staff and another 20 freelancers, and focuses on providing marketing solutions for a wide range of companies.

Deb, 46 has worked in marketing and media since she was 19 and counts a number of household name firms and charities among her clients.

She added: “We work on marketing campaigns and our clients include organisations like the RSPB.

“Generally a client will approach us with a challenge of some kind, whether it is a new product they want to sell or a message they want to get across, and we work on solutions on how to achieve this.”

Methods and approaches can vary greatly.

Deb said: “Sometimes we will opt for advertising in a newspaper or magazine, while on other occasions direct mail could be the most effective way.

“Advertising on the internet is also another good approach.”
