Retail park plans in

A MUCH awaited planning application to redevelop a town’s retail park was submitted this week.

LXB Retail Properties submitted the paperwork requesting permission to upgrade the London Road site in Biggleswade to Central Bedfordshire Council on Wednesday (October 19).

The company hopes to rebuild the units on the site to produce a more cohesive layout rather than the divided site that exists at present

There will also be alterations to the entrance and exit route along London Road. Marks and Spencer will be the main tenant in the retail park, alongside existing and new retailers.

The application follows the public exhibition held in July this year. The vast majority of public responses given at the time supported the plans.

It also follows pre-application discussions with council officers and revisions following public comments.

There will now be a three week consultation period when anyone can put forward their views on the plans on the council website. Construction could begin in the spring.

The plans will be online at http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/PLANTECH/DCWebPages/AcolNetCGI.gov in the next few days. Search for Biggleswade.
