Running to aid the homeless

AN experienced marathon runner is putting his talent to good use by helping the homeless.

Mark Hewitson, who is a quaker, has already run 26 mile races several times but the London Marathon will be his first for charity.

He hopes to raise some much needed funds for Quaker Homeless Action.

Mark, who lives in Sutton High Street, said: “I have been a volunteer for two years at their London Christmas shelter and I have experienced first hand the good work being carried out and I know how difficult funding for small charities is becoming at the moment.”

“It will be used for a new washing machine at the shelter and a new industrial toaster.”

The 47–year–old worships with Letchworth Meeting House and has a day job working as a furniture draftsman with DM specialist in Biggleswade.
