The Sandy carnival prince and princess were chosen on Sunday (May 8).

Frejya Mills, 10, and Mathew Aylett, 9, were the lucky youngsters selected to take pride of place in this year’s celebrations.

They were chosen after being interviewed by Max Hill and Jan Shrieves from the carnival committee and councillors Ken Lynch and Geoff White.

Max said: “We had 11 girls, encouragingly representing all of the lower schools in Sandy and the academy and two boys. Those are very much the sort of numbers we normally have.

“They came along in wonderful attire. The parents and youngsters had really made an effort. We could have easily chosen a number of them.”

Frejya and Mathew both attend Sandye Place Academy and live in the town.
