The Mayor of Sandy, Will Jackson, was delighted to unveil a community defibrillator at Sandy Library in the Market Square on Tuesday afternoon.
Over the last year the Mayor has held a number of charitable events to raise the funds, along with grants from Central Bedfordshire Council and Beds Fire Service, to purchase two defibrillators for the town.
The second defibrillator will be available to use at a later date and will be placed on the Fallowfield estate outside the Co-op.
Mayor Jackson said: “I would like to thank the fire service for helping us by providing most of the money for this project. We probably could have just afforded one defibrillator but thanks to them we can now have two in the town. They are simple to use and have the potential to save lives.”
