Santa’s appeal for volunteer help at hospice grotto

Our festive friend needs more help this year and once again he is seeking representatives around Biggleswade.

One important post that needs filling is that of a volunteer Santa Claus at Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice as the big man himself won’t make it before Christmas.

The hospice needs a volunteer to help out at the grotto on Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29.

With the festive season fast approaching, the hospice at Moggerhanger are encouraging people to post audition videos on their local Facebook page or call Santa’s workshop to register their interest for the job.

Uniform and space to park your sleigh will be provided. No experience necessary as on the job training is given.

Fay Boissieux, one of Santa’s helpers, said: “The ideal Santa would carry the Christmas spirit and ensure that every child who visits the grotto is a believer in the magic of Christmas.

“No previous experience is needed for the job. Successful applicants will need to be happy to play the part accordingly by greeting families and ho ho hoeing the whole day through.”

You can enter by uploading your audition video to the hospice Facebook page sueryder.stjohnshospice or email Santa’s helper on fay.boissieux@sueryder.org or call Santa’s workshop on 01767 642423. Closing date for Santa volunteers will be on Monday, October 12.

Footnote for children: Helpers are employed to represent Santa who is at his busiest in the weeks before Christmas.

Sometimes you might be speaking to the real Santa, and sometimes it might be a helper, who reports back to Santa.
