School makes a meal of Christmas at pub

SCHOOLCHILDREN enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch at a pub restaurant thanks to a generous landlord and landlady.

Adrian and Victoria Doughty from The Crown at Northill invited pupils from Northill Lower School to have a meal at the pub on Tuesday (December 6).

The couple, whose five-year-old daughter Madeline attends the school, wanted to share some Christmas cheer with staff and pupils.

Elizabeth Simpson, headteacher at Northill Lower School said: “We don’t have school dinners at Northill Lower School so we knew a hot meal would be popular with the children.

“We have packed lunches now which the pupils and parents are in favour of but hot food is of course always welcome at lunchtime as well.”

Members of the school’s FPTA helped to serve the food while staff from the pub took care of the cooking and preparation.

Mrs Simpson added: “The meal was fantastic and we are very grateful to Adrian and Victoria for inviting us.”
