Schools selected for encyclopaedia trial

A TRIAL of a new online learning resource has been made available for students in this area.

Bedfordshire is one of four counties to be chosen to test Britannica SmartStudy, a games based resource from Encyclopædia Britannica. Pupils in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk will also be taking part.

Britannica SmartStudy is designed to help students with revision for exams in a range of subjects from lower school through upper school.

It sets youngsters challenges and enables them to earn points through quizzes and games.

John Meehan, UK Schools Manager at Encyclopædia Britannica, said: “Games-based learning has, in recent years, become extremely popular with teachers and students, encouraging them to take an independent approach to their education.

“As part of our commitment to raising educational standards, Britannica believes that teachers and students in Bedfordshire can really benefit from Britannica SmartStudy and its unique games-based approach to learning.”
