See retail park plan

AN application to redevelop a town’s retail park can now be viewed online.

LXB Retail Properties’ planning application to upgrade the London Road retail park in Biggleswade was submitted last week and the full details were uploaded to the planning section of Central Bedfordshire Council’s website on Tuesday.

If permission is granted the buildings on site will be demolished and redesigned, excepting Homebase, which will be redecorated. The aim is to make the site smarter and also to make it less disjointed.

The application shows that the number of parking spaces would increase from 638 to 852. There would also be a new community bus stop on site as well as 194 spaces for cyclists to leave their bikes in. Four hundred and fifty people would be employed on the new look retail park, of whom 350 would work full time. It is proposed that the site is anchored by a Marks and Spencer store.

The full details of the application can be seen including several site plans. To view the application go to www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/PLANTECH/DCWebPages/AcolNetCGI.gov and search for application code CB/11/03734/FULL
