Seven are elected to create a separate council

A brand new council has been formed following last week’s elections.

Seven people have been elected to Fairfield Park Parish Council, which will first convene on Monday (May 13).

Compared to other councils there was a relatively high turnout – 32.26 per cent.

Barrie Dack received 459 votes; the highest number. He was a founder member of Fairfield Action Group, which fought for the new council. He is also a Stotfold town councillor.

Nathan Hanks got 432 votes. He has worked with councils for a decade and is particularly familiar with their processes for planning, parking and road safety.

Stotfold town councillor Geoffrey Smith pulled in 410 votes. He wants to see the community hall become a hub for Fairfield Park.

Retired nurse Penny Daffarn received 368 votes. A volunteer for Teasel environmental group, she wants to see the orchards improved.

Retired London Fire Brigade officer Christopher Bidwell got 344 votes.

Phil Mitchinson came in close behind with 341 votes.

Finally, Vivien Batten was elected with 319 votes.
