Shefford musician has his Phil

AN ASPIRING musician is preparing to release his first album on a Chronicle Country record label.

Phil Romeo’s new title, Colour of Madness will be available to download via iTunes, Amazon and other websites through the Biggleswade-based Isis Records.

It will also be available to buy on CD.

Fomer Samuel Whitbread Community College student Phil, 23, who lives in Bedford Road, Shefford spent six months writing, producing and recording the album.

He said: “I’ve played the guitar on and off for a decade or so and I was the lead singer in a metal band, Ex-Nihilo for four years. Roger Banks, who owns Isis Records has been a family friend for a long time now and I played at one of the label’s showcase nights in Biggleswade.

“He really liked my sound and asked me if I would be interested in putting an album together.”

Phil believes Colour of Madness – which will be released on December 17 – reflects his diverse musical influences.

He added: “As well as my own musical input I also used my computer to add instruments, sounds and effects. I think it sounds a bit like ELO and Yes, maybe a bit like some of Genesis’ early stuff.”

The project has been very much a family affair.

Phil’s mother Gill is an artist and designed the front cover of the album, while his father John has helped Phil with putting on gigs and events.
