  • Ultimate British Wrestling will hold the first ever show in Shefford
  • UBW is unique in that it is a family friendly product
  • The event takes place on Saturday, April 4

Get ready for some hard-hitting action as Ultimate British Wrestling will hold a debut event for Shefford at the memorial hall next weekend.

The family-friendly show on Saturday, April 4 at 6.30pm contains no adult themes, hardcore violence or inappropriate content and is a night of entertainment for all of the family.

It would be great to one day see UBW recognised on the national stage. It might take a while as we have only been around for three years but we are working slowly and surely on it.

Paul Ashe, Owner of UBW

UBW have been established since 2013 and will put on the first ever wrestling show to be held in Shefford.

Large group bookings for birthdays and other celebrations are welcome and the company also work closely with wrestling training schools to ensure fresh, new, professional and exciting talent are used for your entertainment.

Owner and former wrestler in his own right, Paul Ashe, said: “It’s a big thing for us to have a show in Shefford as we are based in Hitchin.

“We would love for the event to be successful and perhaps use the venue for a bi-monthly show.

“The community feel is important to us and we are keen to support local businesses.”

Paul who used to wrestle under the ring name ‘Ashe’ actually trained with WWE Superstars William Regal and Daniel Bryan before having a tryout with the global leaders in 2004.

He is now winding down his career though and his aspirations are to grow Ultimate British Wrestling into a family friendly company who will be recognised nationally.

He said: “It would be great to one day see UBW recognised on the national stage. It might take a while as we have only been around for three years but we are working slowly and surely on it.”

The main event of the show will see newly crowned champion Sween defending his coveted title against his biggest challenge to date and one of the biggest up and coming stars on the UK wrestling scene in Cy Gregory.

Gregory has recently returned from training with WWE and WCW legend Lance Storm in Canada at the Storm Wrestling Academy which has trained some of the top young stars around the world.

UBW are also keen to train the next generation of wrestlers and hold a weekly training session in the North Herts Martial Arts Centre in Hitchin.

The facility currently teaches 20 students in the art of professional wrestling.

Classes focus on fitness and conditioning, wrestling techniques and character design.
