Hayley Stewarts, chair of the carnival committee, said: “After a year of planning and hard work by the committee and the people of Sandy it was wonderful to see it paid off. The parade was a tremendous success and hundreds of people came to enjoy the field events without getting soaked.”

Jade Sharp won the £100 raffle prize.

Committee member Teresa Cole said: “The carnival committee would like to thank everyone who came out to support carnival day and all those that sponsored the event, donated prizes and contributed to the activities.

“It’s the community that helps make this event so special and Sandy residents definitely came out in force this year to support their town.”
