Things are hotting up for community groups in Roxton, thanks to an £11,000 grant.
Roxton community groups came together last Friday to celebrate the award of the grant, which has enabled them to have a new energy-efficient heating and cooling system installed in the parish hall.
The cash boost has been given by WREN, which awards grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK from funds donated by FCC Environment to the Landfill Communities.
Project Leader for the Roxton Parish Hall Energy Improvement Scheme, Paul Gale, said: “It is fantastic that WREN can make funds like this available to communities and we are very pleased our project was selected.
“The new heating will be the first step in our long-term plan of increasing the energy efficiency of the parish hall and local community.
“The facilities provided by Roxton Parish Hall are particularly important in our rural setting to overcome potential issues of isolation and encourage community cohesion.
“The parish hall is currently used by many community groups ranging fromRoxton Baby and Toddler Group to the Over 60s Club.”
