Cadets and staff from Sandy returned home with a number of awards from the annual Wing Field Weekend competition.
The event was held at RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire, and brings together all 30 squadrons and detached flights in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, from Friday, June 26 until Sunday, June 28.
Cadets from 22 (Sandy) Squadron Air Training Corps took part in the Wing Parade and Review and Cadet Warrant Officer Laura Dorrell had the honour of carrying the Wing Banner.
The Squadron achieved 12th place overall, as well as coming 8th in the ensemble competition and taking a superb first place in Bletchley Park code breaking.
There was also success in the Wing Media competition, designing a recruitment magazine article, with Cadet Corporal Matthew Foster taking 2nd in the cadet entry, and civilian instructor Jeffrey Henshaw wining the staff entry, to win the overall competition.
In the Aero modelling competition, Cadet Corporal Matthew Foster won the Class 2 Scratch Built category for the third year running, with Cadet Lucas Obi taking third, and CI Jeffrey Henshaw took second place in the Class 5 Staff Open.
Cadet Warrant Officer Laura Dorrell said: “It was great to carry the wing banner on parade despite the weather. The weekend has been fantastic, and I’m really proud of all the cadets.”
