More than 600 parents were there to see their children triumph across a variety of disciplines with students from Year 1 to Year 13 taking part alongside staff and members of local community choirs.

Principal Rob Robson said: “the quality of work on display and the level of performance of those involved was truly amazing.

“It was a fantastic embodiment of what ‘best’ is all about.”

Year 9 sports day saw Pendelton House following after their namesake Victoria Pendleton and being crowned the victors. Year 12 had a more relaxed attitude while Year 10’s sports day had to be postponed because of the rain.

Year 8 pupils from feeder schools attended the Academy during transition week when students took part in a raft of different activities inclduing team building, school tours and competitions.

After a very busy Year 9 parents evening, Mr Robson said he would welcome feedback: “With so many parents to see it’s always a challenge to stick to time and we are constantly looking at ways to make things run more smoothly.”
