5. Funky Buddha Lounge, Kings Road, Brighton
Louise Holdstock gave the thumbs up to the Funky Buddha Lounge.
It was also a favourite of Paula Randall's. It opened in 1999 and closed in 2010.
The club attached a diversified crowd and was especially popular on the weekend for its much appreciated after-parties, which started at 3am and went on until 8 in the morning. The venue became The Tube in 2014, retaining its original features and underground flair to maintain an urban feel and intimate party atmosphere. Photo: Third party
6. Sister Ray, West Street, Brighton
Frances Benedetto-eaves wrote:
Anyone remember Sister Ray's? Goth central in its time.
Gordon Eady also remembered it. Swifts was a club in West Street which then became The Underground and was more recently known as Kulture, which has now closed.. The Sister Ray night was on Fridays, named after the 1968 song by the Velvet Underground and covered by Joy Division. Photo: Third party
