Lexi Fitzpatrick was diagnosed with a condition leaving her blind when she was just six months old, and for the past two years fundraisers have been supporting the hospital (GOSH).

The fun day takes place on Sunday, August 14. Shefford Sports and Community Club in Hitchin Road is the venue, with the gates opening at noon. Kick off is at 2pm and the club closes at 11pm.

A spokesman for the event said: “For the past two years we have held charity matches to raise money for GOSH, where a team from The Loft Cafe/Bar have played a team comprising friends and relatives of 7-year-old Shefford girl Lexi Fitzpatrick.

“At six months Lexi was diagnosed with a condition called Septo Optic Dysplasia which left her totally blind and needing a daily plethora of tablets and injections to help her live her life as normally as possible.

“Lexi still visits GOSH regularly for checkups and overnight monitoring and considers it almost a second home thanks to the wonderful work and conditions the doctors and staff at GOSH provide.

“For this year’s match we have been fortunate in having the opportunity to host a celebrity eleven made up of stars from The Only Way Is Essex, X Factor, The Voice, Big Brother and Love Island.”
