The main celebrations will start in the car park of The Crown in Northill. Morris Men will kick off the event, dancing at 11.30am.

At 12.45pm children will assemble with their decorated hoops and these will be judged at 1pm.

At 1.30pm the procession will leave for Ickwell Green.

Katie Bryant will be crowned as the new May Queen at 2pm. This will be followed by dancing by local children and adults.

If you stay until the end of the dancing you can join in and dance around the maypole as well.

Old documents show that May Day celebrations were in force in Ickwell as far back as 1563. The current form of celebrations with the ribbon plaiting and a May Queen began in 1894.
