Transport survey is now online

RESIDENTS can have their say on how transport in the Shefford area shapes up as part of a new consultation.

Central Bedfordshire Council is holding the second review of its Local Area Transport Plans, known as ‘My Journey’ which was launched today (Monday, October 24).

Over the next 14 weeks residents will have the chance to meet council representatives to discuss future transport services and improvements at a series of events.

Shefford is one of the four areas that is affected, and includes Campton and Chicksands, Shillington, Meppershall and Gravenhurst.

A new online survey will also give people who use transport services the chance to identify priorities in the area.

Proposals for transport improvements will then be set out in a Local Area Transport Plan which will aim to improve travel choices. Opportunities for travel by public transport, bicycle and on foot should be maximised. The council also hopes to make better use of the existing road network.

Councillor Ken Matthews, executive member for strategic planning and economic development at Central Beds Council said: “We need local people to let us know what public transport services, walking routes, cycling routes and roads they currently use and what improvements they would like to see made throughout their area.”
