Biggleswade to London season ticket could increase to £4,868

Following Tuesday's announcement of the 1.6% rail fare increase from January 2021, price comparison firm Bankrate has calculated the new London season ticket fares from Biggleswade and Sandy.

The data for Biggleswade suggests that weekly tickets will increase to £121.72 (+£1.92), monthly tickets will increase to £467.46 (+£7.36) and annual season tickets will increase to £4,868.67 (+£76.67).

In Sandy, weekly tickets will likely increase to £126.29 (+£1.99), monthly tickets will increase to £485.04 (+£7.64) and annual season tickets will increase to £5,051.55 (+£79.55).

Experts at Bankrate have calculated that rail commuters from Biggleswade have saved up to £2,486 over the 20-week work-from-home period during lockdown.

A company spokesman said: "Despite the UK government changing the work from home guidance at the beginning of August, more than 20 of the UK’s largest companies have said that the majority of their employees will continue to work from home and will do so for the 'foreseeable' future."
