Sandy Ukulele Group are looking for new members to join their group and plan on celebrating World Play Your Ukulele Day on Monday.
The group which was formed in 2011 with four members has steadily grown over the last few years and now has 26 members as well as a large following on Facebook.
The group currently practices every Friday at the Baptist Church Hall on Bedford Road in Sandy.
Brian Elliott, a member of the group, said: “We are a fun group who don’t charge and our only aim is to turn up and have fun.
“Playing the ukulele has become our passion and the group really is going from strength to strength.
“We are looking for new members to join us although they must be over the age of 18 to take part.”
The group also has a dress code which says that bright colours must be worn at any gig they play to emphasise the fun aspect of playing the ukulele.
Members specialise in playing old 1960s classics and mainly gig at places like residential homes to entertain the elderly.
Sandy Ukulele Group is the only known organisation of its type in Chronicle Country although there is a similar Bedford group as well.
Plans for World Play Your Ukulele Day on Monday will soon be announced and a list of gigs is on its website.
