Upper school on right track for future success
Sandy Upper School was put in special measures after an Ofsted inspection in February. Inspectors returned to the school last month and a report has now been released.
Since the inspection Mrs Urusla Byrne has taken over as the interim headteacher. 15 members of staff have left.

“Inspectors saw good teaching in drama, mathematics and science; outstanding teaching was seen in history.”
Teaching is being monitored well with the senior leaders’ comments matching the inspectors’ judgements.
During the visit the students were seen to be attentive, polite and helpful.

At the beginning of the next academic year Mrs Byrne will hand over to The Barnfield Federation, the school’s chosen sponsor.
In preparation for this the senior leadership team have planned significant changes to the subjects available and how they will be organised from September.
