VE and VJ Day remembered

A service at St Andrew’s Church in Biggleswade was held on Sunday afternoon to remember the events of VE and VJ Day during the Second World War.

The service was organised by the Biggleswade branch of the Royal British Legion.

Readings took place from Tony Dray, the Vice Chairman of the branch who quoted a famous Winston Churchill speech and Biggleswade Town Mayor, Hazel Ramsey who read a passage from the Bible.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of VE Day, the day when Nazi Germany officially surrendered, and brought years of bloodshed to an end.

Our photographer June Essex was at the service.
