Ickwell won the toss on Saturday and chose to bat. Unfortunately Harry Fallows was dismissed in the first over but Cameron Smith (40) and Ross Fensome helped recover the situation with a second wicket stand of 59.

Batting at number four Peter Sowerby (62) played the major role in developing the innings and was well supported by Daniel Denton and Tim Smith. Ickwell finished on 223.

Nassington were dismissed for 169 to give Ickwell a 54 run victory. The slower bowlers Daniel Denton (4-31) and Alec Wing (4-31) took most of the wickets.

Biggleswade cruised to a nine wicket victory over Sawtry in Division Three.

Sawtry got off to a cautious start and reached 24 in the 12th over before Furlong bowled Burcham. Gauge took the next, then Furlong took the next three wickets,

Sawtry were soon 99-6 in the 34th over but recovered well hitting 62 in the next eight overs. The return of Gauge for his fourth spell broke the partnership, Matt Burgess beingcaught by Franklin and the innings closed on 170.

As Biggleswade replied Adam Dagless was almost removed in the second over but then accelerated and had reached 32 out of 52 when Conor Smith picked out Peter Burcham. Lawrence joined Dagless and the pair took advantage of any wayward bowling to move the score forward.

Sawtry were changing bowlers on a regular basis but to no avail. By now both batsmen were in full flight. Dagless finished the match in the 26th over, as he hit 4, 2, 4, 6, 6 and 4 to take the score to 174 and reach his own century off the last ball of the over.

An understrength Ickwell seconds went down by eight wickets to Castor and Ailesworth seconds in Division Four. Put into bat Ickwell made 150 with Tinu Thankappan being top scorer with 42. Once again Castor’s slow left arm spinner Norman Gray (4 for 34) did most of the damage.

A second wicket partnership of 132 between Pete Bellamy (79) and Andy Johnson (54 not out) saw the visitors home to an easy victory.
