Hoddesdon opted to bat and made steady progress at the Claybridge, recovering from 134-6 to reach 242 all out.
Richard Foxall was the pick of the bowlers with 4-53 off 14.5 overs while Adam Ryan kept the runs in check with 2-36 off 13 overs.
In reply Clifton were wobbling at 84-5 but 59 from Rick Monaghan in the middle order set them on their way and decent lower order support saw Clifton home in the 47th over.
In Division Two B Potton Town clung on for a draw in a high-scoring match at Welwyn Garden City II.
Potton put the hosts into bat and they piled on the runs, posting 288-5 in their 50 overs. Dan Hall bagged a couple of wickets in his 12 over spell.
The Potton reply began strongly as Stephen Williams (62) and James Warboys (67) pushed the score along ably assisted by Dan Hall (47). But once they left the crease the innings faded and they closed on 248-9.
