Shabz turns on the style as Blunham lift Shield

In the absence of the injured James Gauge, Kevin Wright skippered Biggleswade and lost the toss, with Blunham electing to bat.

Blunham raced to 51 before Adam Dagless bowled Michael Pickard for 26. Harry Roberts then ran out Connor Heaps (28) and Biggleswade old boy Shabz Hussain was lbw to Luke Ball.

Tom Boyd removed Dean Barrow, caught by Wright, and Ball chipped in with the wickets of Ross Adams and Wayne Goldsmith to end with 3-19.​

Max Hurst was run out by Bruce Ditcham and Adam Grimes caught behind by Lawrence off Matt Twigg as the the innings finished on 116-8.

When Biggleswade went into bat they needed a good start but saw Dagless run out by Pickard in the first over and Wright fell lbw to Goldsmith in the second.

When Twigg departed in the next over the writing was on the wall.

Some tight Blunham bowling and fielding restricted them to 76-8 off their 16 overs, with only Adam Lawrence getting into double figures , top scoring with 25.

Pickard was again amongst the action, taking two catches and a run out, as well as bowling his four overs for 1-21.

However, Hussain was awarded man of the match by the two umpires, Peter Gurney and David Brownridge for taking 3-13 off his four overs.

In presenting the winning trophy to Blunham, John Gurney, Chairman of the East Beds Charity Cricket Shield thanked Caldecote CC for stepping in to host the game, plus the umpires, scorers and groundstaff for their parts in enabling the game to be held, while a collection raised £49.
