Henlow moved up to third in the Beds Invitation Saturday League Division Two following a comprehensive win over Ampthill fourths.

Stand-in skipper Pete Gratrick claimed 3-17 in five overs, with two wickets apiece for Wayne Bilcock and Scott Spicer, as the visitors were restricted to 127-8 in their 40 overs.

A second wicket stand of 77 between opener Oscar Fas (56 not out) and Rory Fookes (31) ensured there were few alarms for Henlow in reply as they won by eight wickets with 16 overs to spare.

Meanwhile a weakened Clifton seconds did not really turn up with the bat as Langford completed a routine victory.

Bowlers Karl McNab 5-23 delivered very good lines and Owen Crouch took 2-6 as Clifton were bowled out for 75.

The Clifton bowlers at least did a decent job as they made Langford work for their runs. There was never any doubt though about the result as Langford trotted home by seven wickets.

Opener Stuart Harding scored 105 in Cople’s comfortable victory at home to Sandy.

In Division One, Old Warden suffered a heavy defeat at home to Pilgrims Oakley.

The visitors scored 220-5, Will McFarland scoring an unbeaten 131. Old Warden couldn’t get going andwere all out for 96.
