AFC Totton 3 Arlesey Town 3

Arlesey Town picked up thrilling 3-3 draw with AFC Totton on Tuesday night.

The visitors welcomed back Ollie Thorne and moved Chris Marsh to the bench following his knock on Sunday but were otherwise unchanged and started strongly with Drew Roberts’ shot deflected behind.

Stefan Brown hit the post for Totton, while Arlesey broke and Roberts forced Gareth Barefoot into a fine save.

The visitors had the breakthrough on 20 minutes when Roberts’ quick free kick was palmed out to Chris Dillon and he fired high into the net.

In the second half, Totton were level on 58 minutes as James Coutts fired past Nathan Abbey, before the home side took the lead when Abbey was adjudged to have fouled Richard Gillespie, who converted the penalty.

It was 2-2 on 73 minutes when Thorne was pulled back and this time Arlesey won the spot kick, Roberts finding the corner of the net.

Town’s lead didn’t last long as Ryan Hill’s free kick was headed home by Jamie Whisken within 60 seconds.

Top scorer Roberts came to Arlesey’s rescue late on though as he curled a magnificent free kick past Barefoot to salvage a point.

Arlesey are at home to Barwell this weekend.
