Arlesey Town’s home league campaign ended with a whimper as they lost 3-1 to Ware on Saturday.
Poor defending again allowed the visitors to go into an early 2-0 lead, Justin Leavers and Jack Hutchinson on the mark.
Arlesey were thrown a lifeline on the stroke of half time as Tony Williams picked the pocket of a defender and fired home from an acute angle.
However another piece of poor defending allowed Ware to grab a killer third from a corner through Dernell Wynter just before the hour.
After the game the club presented their season awards. Christian Tavernier mopped up the manager’s player, players’ player and top goalscorer awards. Meanwhile Nick Thompson was the supporters’ player and Saturday’s scorer Tony Williams earned the young player award. Chris Sterry was named clubman of the year for his dedicated work behind the scenes.
Arlesey’s Southern League Division One Central campaign comes to a close on Saturday when they visit Fleet.
