Arlesey well beaten at Aylesbury

Arlesey Town were well beaten 3-0 at Aylesbury FC in the Southern League Division 1 Central on Tuesday.

A brace from Brian Haule in the first half was followed by a second half close range strike from Ben Stevens on a nippy night at Haywood Way.

Aylesbury grabbed an early sixth minute lead when a cross into the box gave Haule the opportunity for a strike and although his original shot was saved, he used his strength to bundle the ball home at the second attempt.

The visitors had chances. Soon afterwards Arlesey centre back Sean Beesley snatched at a header and saw it fly wide when composure was the order of the day.

Lynton Goss had a half chance to increase his side’s lead. This was the prelude to FC’s second. An Aston Goss cross was met perfectly by Haule with the daintiest of sidefoot volleys which nestled in the far corner of the Arlesey goal.

A Jamie Rudd cross on 65 minutes led to the final goal of the evening. Goss attempted to head it goalwards but instead the ball fell to Stevens who crashed the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Arlesey had their first real strike at goal with 20 minutes remaining as substitute Dylan Gutting hit a powerful cross shot that Wetherill palmed away.

Late on a Daniel Murphy corner was headed goalwards by Goss only to be plucked from the air by the alert Nick Thompson.

On Saturday Arlesey earned a share of the spoils late on at home to Godalming Town, who finished the game with nine men.

Chris Musgrove put the visitors in front just past the half hour when he headed home from a free kick but substitute Jevani Brown grabbed the equaliser with just a minute to play.

On Saturday Arlesey visit Royston Town.
