Balague: Four home games can see Biggleswade United push towards the top

With our first team facing four games in the next 10 days - all of them at home - this is undoubtedly the best chance we will ever have of making our way to just where we want to be, near the top of the league table.

Last week’s postponed away fixture against Holmer Green was the last thing we wanted and now means that we line up against Hoddeson Town tomorrow (Sat 3pm) with no fewer than five games in hand on our opponents.

in fact we have between two and five matches in hand on the six clubs that sit above us in the league table. A top four finish is very much within our grasp but we need to stay focused, committed and maintain the form and desire that has seen us go unbeaten for ten matches since we lost 1-0 to Leighton Town on January 2.

The mood and morale is high and even more so following the arrival to our shores of the former Norwegian first division professional striker, Simen Moller who will be playing in our colours for the next couple of months.

Simen is a former professional player, turned broadcaster whose day job back in Oslo is as a football commentator for TV 2 where he works on the Premier League. In addition to helping us with – hopefully – a sackful of goals he will also spend his time picking up media experience in the UK as well as filming a documentary about his stay with us that wil be shown on TV in his native country.

And I would invite anyone who might think that his arrival is merely a publicity stunt to take a look at his goal-scoring record that saw him score 40 times in 56 games for second division Norwegian side, Kjelsas between 2014 and 2016.

Our Academy is delighted to announce trial dates this month for season 2017-18. They will be for all ages betyween U7 to U18 and will be carried out by our qualified coaches and supervised by Head of Academy Fran Constancio and Assistant Head of Academy Joan Garzon.
