Bedfordshire League: action

Footballers in the Bedfordshire League completed some of the final games of the campaign this week.

In Division Two Lea Sports PSG were to end their season 14 points clear at the head of the division two league table after retaining their seasons unbeaten home record and increasing their current unbeaten run to 20 games with a 2-1 home victory over Marabese Ceramics.

Goals from Dion Brown and Paul Collins did the damage against a reply from Josh Pierre St Claire.

The day’s other scheduled game in this division saw Elstow Abbey, who will now finish in sixth spot awarded three points when Shefford Town & Campton Reserves failed to raise a side to meet them at Rectory Road.

In Division Three, having won their last three away games, Co-op Sports missed the chance of a top four finish when beaten 4-3 at Westoning Recreation Club Reserves who ended the season with their fourth home win on a spin.

Liam Boyle with a brace plus long range free kicks from Scott Gadsden ( 30yards) and Ian Buckingham ( 40yards) scored the Westoning goals, being replied to by James Potter twice and James McMulkin.

After losing their last four outings which ruined any chance they had of lifting the championship, Pavenham ended their league campaign with a 1-0 win at Dunton Reserves thanks to a lone strike from Tom Rodger.

Also ending the season on a high were Renhold Village, 6-2 winners at Shefford Town & Campton A. Dan Luke with a hat-trick, Carl Townsend with a brace plus a goal from Alex Giscombe only being replied to by Ollie Morgan and Dan Bright.
