Bedfordshire League: Caldecote stay on top

Caldecote remain on the summit of The Premier Division table after emerging 2-1 winners at Arlesey Town Reserves on Saturday.

Just goal difference behind them now in second spot are Oakley Sports, they came from behind to inflict a first defeat of the season upon Shefford Town & Campton. It was Town’s Chris Clarke who gave the visitors the lead just 11 minutes into the contest before goals from Ray Patrickson on the hour mark and Carl Warner 10 minutes from time ensured the home side of the points.

After four straight defeats,Renhold United moved themselves off the bottom of the league table in style with a 6-0 home win over Sharnbrook. Sheldon Washington with a brace plus goals from Alex Woolston, Justin Patterson, Ben Brown and Neville Allen ending the visitors 100% away record for the season. .

Elsewhere, Flitwick Town’s 100 per cent home record for the season was blown apart when Roy Murnane netted in the 72nd minute to give AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College their first league win of the campaign and ensure the bottom spot of the league table would now be occupied by Dunton who were beaten 2-0 on home soil by Bedford Hatters.Ashley Deverall the sole destroyer striking both goals.

Meantime, Blunham are still looking for their first away win of the campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw at Woburn,Deep Banghard their marksman against a home reply via Rodolfo Bruno.

Division One

For league leaders Lidlington United Sports it was a retention of their season’s 100% record via a 6-3 home win over Sandy.Kieren Wills netting five times and Darren Sims once against Sandy replies from Dan Stafford, Ian Hammett and Phil Beall.

Just goal difference behind them in second spot and still 100 per cent for the season are Ickwell & Old Warden, a lone goal from Lee Threadgold taking them to a 1-0 home victory over the previously unbeaten Marston Shelton Rovers.

Now up into third slot and still unbeaten for the season are Bedford Sports Athletic, they ran out 2-1 away winners at now bottom of the table Westoning. Gary Canzano and Ian Asplin on the scoresheet against a home reply from Tom Smith.

Also moving up the league table are FC Meppershall, they now occupy fourth spot after winning 4-2 at Lea Sports PSG.Craig Damon with a hat-trick plus a strike from Joe Price only being replied to by a home brace from Matthew Day.

The top scorers of the day were now sixth place Luton Boys, for them it was a 7-2 home win over Kings AFC. Ibrahim Sai seeing his hat-trick supported by strikes from Jason Blake, Jordan Holmes, Kyle Ross and Famik Stephen-Gabriel, whilst the visitors replies came via Andy Mayes and Ollie Plested.

Having lost their last three games, Henlow returned to form with a 3-0 away win at Meltis Albion, Andy Newton doing the damage with a hat-trick.

Elsewhere, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves collected their opening point of the season from a 2-2 home draw with Caldecote Reserves. Kevin Brown and Adam Fraser on target against a brace in reply from Matt Basta.

Division Two

AFC Turvey’s lead at the head of the division two league table is now down to a single point after two goals from John Guiney and strikes from Saimir Guri and Daniel Bailey were cancelled out by brace from James Smart, Scott Sullivan plus an own goal to earn them just a share of the spoils from a 4-4 home draw with Stopsley Park.

Elstow Abbey, being the club just behind them in second spot after they ran out 6-0 home winners over Bromham United.Danny Pilgrim and Glen Tumulity netting in the opening half before Dave McCarthy took over to bag another four goals in the second period.

Up into third spot now are Sundon Park Rangers, they retained their 100% away record for the season by winning 2-1 at Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Andrew Fox and Eddie Lewis netting the goals against a home reply from Jordan Robbens.

Rangers advance up the league standing coming at the expense of Pavenham after they lost their season’s 100% tag by losing 1-0 at home against Queens Park Crescents for whom Matt Hefford netted the vital goal.

Maintaining fifth spot in the standings are Potton United Reserves, they ran out 3-1 home winners over Great Barford. Amit Aghera, Lee Garner and Dave Waugh on the scoresheet against a lone reply from Freddie Windram.

Elsewhere, there were first away wins of the season for both Co-op Sports and M & DH Oakley. Scott Davis with a brace plus a goal from Chris Vardy giving the Co-op a 3-0 victory at Clifton, whilst M & DH Oakley ended Marabese Ceramics unbeaten home ways for the season in a 2-1 scoreline. Lee Leonard and Adam Emms seeing their goals only replied to by Todd Gormer.

Division Three

The new league leaders of the division three table are Goldington after they romped to a 5-0 home win over Dunton Reserves. Karl Anderson, Chris Huckle, Jamie Morris, Ryan Gascoyne and Jordan Kumar all finding the back of the net.

For previous table toppers Renhold Village, it’s a fall to fourth spot after being defeated 3-1 at Cranfield United Reserves who now themselves climb up into third place. Mark Dring twice and Adam Kerr on the scoresheet for United against a lone Village reply from Michael Luke.

Occupying second spot are Stevington, they are just goal difference shy of the new leaders and have the luxury of having played two games less after they retained their season’s 100 per cent home record with a 3-1 win over Sundon Park Colts.John Devereux netting twice and Lawrence Bentham once against a Colts reply from Rory McMullen.

Still unbeaten for the season are Riseley Sports, they claimed a 4-1 home victory to end Potton Town’s away record for the season .Robert Ginn, James Cooke, Tom Ellison and Peter Baish all finding the back of the net against a Mark Mijalski reply.

Claiming their first away win of the season were Eastcotts AFC via a 5-2 victory at Wilshamstead Reserves.Michael Sexton with a brace plus strikes from Matty Walsh, Kaylen Wilson and Sam Mulance only being replied to by Jeff Hall and Liam Philip.

Elsewhere, Flitwick Town Reserves are still looking for their first win of the season after losing out 3-2 at Kempston Hammers Sports.Michael Freeman with a brace plus Andy Janes on the home scoresheet against Town replies from Harry Rowlands and Darren Stringer.

Meantime, in their opening home game of the season Royal Oak Kempston were beaten 4-0 by Westoning Reserves. Gareth White with a hat-trick plus a strike from Rob Barnard doing the damage.

Division Four

With Marsh Leys sitting the afternoon out, Bedford Park Rangers took full advantage to climb onto the top of the division four league table with a resounding 8-2 home win over Goldington Hammers.Josh Geary and Shaun Finlay both netting twice alongside strikes from Mark Reynolds, Luke Rayner, Matthew Westwood and Jordan Wright against Hammers replies via an own goal and Ryan Hutton.

Marsh Leys dropping down to third spot after Clifton Reserves also leaped above them with a 4-2 win at Dinamo Flitwick.An own goal and a strike from Lee Pateman shooting the visitors 2-0 ahead until goals from Scott Hannam and Barrie Lee Hannam levelled matters for the home side with just five minutes left to play, but a goal from Michael King and a second strike from Patemam ensured the home fight back was to be all in vain.

Now in fourth spot are Stewartby Village, they remain unbeaten on the road this season after winning 4-1 at Dunton A. Michael Darnell with a brace plus James Greenslade and Tom Wheelhouse seeing their goals only replied to by Richard Vale.

For fifth place Kempston Athletic, it was a retention of their season’s unbeaten home ways with a 4-1 win over Shefford Town & Campton A. Gary Whitbread twice plus Dee Sayid and Ricky Carter finding the back of the net against a lone reply from Dan Cullerton.

After three straight defeats, Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves returned to form with a 5-3 victory at Thurleigh. Graham Wedall with a hat-trick and Matthew McCartney with a brace outweighing home strikes from Salvatore Ventriqlia twice and Sam Queeley.

For Caldecote A, it was the end of their season’s perfect home record when held to a 4-4 draw by Wootton Village.Ryan Ambrose with a hat-trick plus Sean Boyd on the home scoresheet against Village replies from Jay Rogers, Andrea Capacchione, Ryan Stocker and Lewis Aitken.

Also sharing the spoils were Sandy Reserves in a 3-3 home draw with Bedford Panthers.Chris Gregory twice plus Jonnie Stratford the home marksmen against Panthers replies from Chris Hawkins twice and Ray Cochrane.
