Bedfordshire League round-up

Andrew Hayday and Adam Larsen netted twice alongside Michael Jones against home replies from Dan Kelly, Harry Atherton, Lawrence Bentham and Andy Wood.

For second place Renhold United who trail them on goal difference, it was a retention of their perfect home record with a 2-1 win over AFC Kempston Town. Jason Allison and Justin Patterson netting the vital goals against a Town reply from Glen Rooney.

However, just a point behind them in third spot are Wilshamstead following their 6-4 home win over Southill Alexander. Colin Marshall and Paul Jones both striking twice alongside Aaron Perrett and Dan Pike against Alexander replies from Steve Foster, John Coker, Richard Pearce and Adam Wombwell.

Over at Harvey Close, Caldecote were to lose their season’s 100 per cent home ways when beaten 5-4 by last season’s champions Blunham, who sit menacingly with games in hand on the top three in fourth spot. Nathan Buckland was to shoot the home side ahead from the penalty spot in the very first minute of the game before Zak Rowe levelled matters 20 minutes later to take the teams in 1-1 at half-time.

Andy Smith then with a header placed Blunham 2-1 ahead 10 minutes into the second period before another Buckland penalty levelled matters just 60 seconds later. Caldecote were 3-2 ahead on 62 minutes via a Dave Lenton header only to see Steve Thomas even the score at 3-3 with 15 minutes left to play. It was however to be the champions afternoon when goals from Andrew Vallom and Andy Smith followed before Lenton added his second of the afternoon just two minutes from time.

Caldecote now drop to sixth place in the standings after Leighton United climbed above them thanks to a 7-0 home win over Arlesey Town Reserves. Layne Eadie with a hat-trick, Curtis Doyle with a brace plus strikes from Colin Moore and Kevin Hilton keeping up United’s home unbeaten ways this season.

Elsewhere, Flitwick Town retained their perfect home start with a 1-0 win over Biggleswade United Reserves, Pete Kouwenberg netting the goal just five minutes into the contest.

Meantime, following four straight defeats, Dunton returned to winning ways with a 4-0 victory at Woburn, Dave Pugh twice plus Lawrence Bosher and Jon Ranson scoring the vital goals.

Division One

With Potton Wanderers under Bedfordshire FA suspension and their game away at Blunham Reserves forfeited, Marston Shelton Rovers are the new league leaders following their 1-0 home win over a Bedford Hatters side that was losing for the first time this season. Antony Henman scored the only goal just 15 minutes into the game to retain Rovers perfect record for the campaign.

Meltis Albion remain in fourth following their 3-2 home victory over Caldecote Reserves, Daniel Wells with a brace plus Daniel Reed doing the damage against a brace in reply from Tom Dupey.

The top scorers of the day however were Bedford Sports Athletic, who returned to winning ways at the sixth time of asking with a 7-1 victory at Brache Sparta Community Reserves. Andrew Latimer seeing his brace of goals supported by strikes from Robert Chapel, Gary Canzano, Daniel Bond, Asa Mead and Ian Asplin against a lone home reply from Fabio Sandhu.

There was plenty of drama at Groveside, Henlow with goals from Joe Follano, Andy Newton and Pete Saunders leading Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves 3-0 at half-time before the visitors, with a brace from Dave Trundley plus a goal from Matthew McCartney hit back to earn a share of the spoils.

For FC Meppershall it was a first away win of the season 2-1 at AFC Kempston Town Reserves.Benjamin Walters and Chris Robinson goals only being replied to by Jamie Rodd.

Division Two

Arlesey Social Galacticos were to lose their leadership of the division two league table when beaten for the first time this season 4-1 away at Lea Sports PSG. Martin Collins with a hat-trick plus a goal from Juan Camello only being replied to by James Starlin.

Taking over the league leadership are Queens Park Crescents, who ran out 2-0 home winners over Marabese Ceramics thanks to a brace of goals from Hassan Yousuf.

Also climbing above The Social into second spot are Clifton despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Westoning Recreation Club. Tony McNaught seeing his goal cancelled out by a home strike from Alex Barnwell.

Up now into fifth spot in the table are Bromham United, they ended Shefford Town & Campton Reserves unbeaten home ways for the season with a 2-1 victory at Rectory Road.Dave Baxter and Antony Farr on the scoresheet against a home reply from Paul Still.

After four straight away defeats, Great Barford grabbed their second win on the road this season with a 4-1 victory at Kings AFC. Daniel Stafford with a hat-trick plus a goal from Rob Tapley did the damage against a home reply from Oliver Plestead.

Kings AFC now drop to the bottom of the league after Harpur FC, due to being under Bedfordshire FA suspension, forfeited their game away at Kempston Hammers Sports, who thus collected the three points to lift themselves off the bottom of the league.

Elsewhere, Lidlington United Sports having lost their last three games returned to winning ways with a 2-1 home win over Elstow Abbey.Ben Marwood and Paul Nockels on the scoresheet against an Abbey reply from Mufaro Mashavira.

Stopsley Park got their first home win of the season, 6-0 over Stevington. Nathan Osbourne with a brace plus goals from James Smart,Rob Wilson, Jordan O’Sullivan and Tyrone Patterson doing the damage.

Division Three

Pavenham lead at the head of the division three league table remains at five points after they netted their eighth consecutive win, 3-1 at home over Royal Oak Kempston. James Owen, Tom Rodger and Stuart Beasley all found the back of the net against an Oak reply from Lorenzo Jordan.

For second place M&DH Oakley,it was a retention of their season’s unbeaten ways with a 4-1 home win over Sharnbrook Reserves. Jamie Mclenanan, Adam Emms, Dan Lupton and Phil Straccia netting the goals against a lone reply from Stephen Smith.

Going one better were fourth place Sundon Park Rangers, 5-0 home winners over Westoning Recreation Club Reserves.Matthew Conway leading the way with a hat-trick supported by strikes from Sam Chapman and Nicky Buttigieg.

Also going nap were Cranfield United Reserves, 5-0 winners at Shefford Town & Campton A.

It was a grand day for Ashley Jordan on his debut for Co-op Sports, netting all three goals in their 3-2 home win over Renhold Village.Dan Luke and Michael Luke hitting the replies.

Also winning 3-2 at home were Dunton Reserves over Wilshamstead Reserves, Nicky Albone the hero with a hat-trick against replies from Neil Greig and Colin Merritt.

The day’s final game in this section gave Riseley Sports their first home win of the campaign, 3-0 over Flitwick Town Reserves.Jimmy Grandidge netting twice, once from the penalty and James Law doing the damage.

Division Four

AFC Turvey are still three points clear at the head of the division four league table after they netted win number seven on the bounce with a 10-2 victory at Clifton Reserves.John Guiney, Robin Ellis and Martin Ivy all netting braces,supported by single strikes from Oliver Dove, Martin Page, Saimir Guri and Mark Allen against home replies from Tony Norman and Rob Harradine.

Keeping up the pressure on the league leaders are second place Thurleigh,they retained their perfect home record with a 2-1 victory over Lea Sports PSG Reserves. Steve Pledge and Liam Bolton on target against a reply from Jamie Rowlett.

Third place Eastcotts however are now five points adrift of the leaders after being held to a 1-1 draw at Sandy Reserves. Tony Milioti saw his goal cancelled out by a home strike from Brad Smith.

Goldington, after two straight defeats, returned to winning ways with a 6-3 home victory over Bedford Park Rangers. Damion Quigley bagged a brace, supported by strikes from Alan Cudjoe, Johnny Hutchinson, Chris Huckle and Brian Day, the Rangers replies coming via Mark Reynolds, Shaun Finlay and a Josh Geary penalty.

Elsewhere, Potton Town made it three home wins on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Kempston Athletic. Paul Mijalski and James Pyman on target against an Athletic reply from Jason Beddall.

Stewartby Village’s poor home form continues, beaten 3-4 by Dinamo Flitwick.Scott Hannam, Dean Myers, Dale Goldie and Andy Carlin on the scoresheet for the winners against home replies from Tom Bellwood-Smith, Tom Wheelhouse and James Churchman.

Goldington Hammers enjoyed a 4-1 home win over Wootton Village, James Gorin, Jamie Mercurio, Jimmy Jacob and Jordan Carter seeing their goals replied to by Adam Flynn.
