Bedfordshire League round-up: October 9

Nathan Buckland was on the scoresheet in the opening half before Kai Griffiths-Shilton netted a hat-trick and a strike from Russell Kemp brought up the nap hand in the second period. Caldecote now have home advantage in round two against Cranfield United.

Also into round two are Blunham, 6-0 home winners over AFC Kempston Town, Matty McMahon on target twice alongside Andy Smith, Steve Thomas, Carl Page and Zak Rowe. Blunham now welcome AFC Dunstable who were 3-0 home winners over Sharnbrook.

Joining them in round two are Oakley Sports, they ran out 4-0 winners at home to Arlesey Town Reserves. Sam Watkins twice plus Jamie Endersby and Stuart Kelly netted the goals to earn a home tie against UCL side Potton United.

It was however the end of the road for Biggleswade United Reserves, they had just a Nick Jones goal to show for their 5-1 defeat at AFC Kempston Rovers. Rovers now travel to face Shefford Town & Campton.

For Woburn, it was a 2-1 defeat at Wootton Blue Cross despite a goal from Martin Holland. The Cross are now at home against Ampthill Town who won 4-0 at Leighton United.

Also bowing out were Dunton, 1-0 losers at Kent Athletic, they now travel to face Wilshamstead after they gained a walkover due to Southill Alexander not being able to raise a side. Flitwick Town were 4-0 losers at Bedford FC.

Division One

It’s as you were at the top of division one after both Potton Wanderers and Marston Shelton Rovers retained their 100 per cent records. Leaders Potton Wanderers, with two goals from Craig Schurek and a strike from Antony Schurek against a late penalty reply from Asa Garlick, won 3-1 at Meltis Albion. Marston Shelton Rovers needed just a 10th minute strike from Liam Parker to earn a 1-0 home win over Sandy.

The game of the day however saw Henlow and Bedford Sports Athletic share the spoils in a 4-4 draw at Groveside. Luke Holt, twice, plus Jake Rennie and Andy Newton scored for Henlow against a brace in reply from Asa Mead and goals for Ashley Mead and Gary Canzano.

Also sharing the spoils were FC Meppershall and Brache Sparta Community Reserves in a 2-2 draw – Darren Bentley with both of the home goals, including one from the penalty spot, replied to by Mustapha Ahmed and Mohammed Kabir.

For Luton Old Boys, it was a first win, 2-1 at home to Blunham Reserves, Arvin Rajaram and Adam Borton seeing their goals being replied to by Ed Davis.

Elsewhere, AFC Kempston Town Reserves came up with their first home, 1-0 over Caldecote Reserves thanks to a strike from Jamie Felts.

Division Two

Arlesey Social Galacticos remain on top despite being held to a 2-2 home draw by Shefford Town & Campton Reserves.Chris Robinson and Dhaminder Kandola netted for The Social against a brace in reply from Adam Larsen.

They stayed top after second place Clifton were also held 2-2 at home by Elstow Abbey.Will Pitts seeing his two home goals cancelled out on each occasion by equalisers from first Tom Pitts then Harry Ellis.

However, both clubs saw their lead cut to just a single point by Queens Park Crescents who ran out 3-2 winners at Westoning Recreation Club. Imran Khan with a brace and Zain Riasat scored the vital goals against home replies from Glen Cooksley and Ian Buckingham.

Also enjoying life on the road were both Stopsley Park and Lea Sports PSG . The Park ended a run of three without a win with a 5-4 victory at Harpur FC. Luke Bland, twice, plus James Smart, Rob Wilson and Mike Buckmaster were on the mark for The Park against a brace from Kane Alexander plus single goals from Christain Maxfield and Domic Skyers making up the home tally.

Meantime, PSG were 5-1 winners at Stevington,Chris Littlejohn with a brace plus goals from Paul Collins, Hayden Fletcher and Juan Ramello only being replied to by Aaron Fletcher.

For bottom side Kempston Hammers Sports, it was a fifth straight defeat, 4-0 at Marabese Ceramics, for whom Adrain Follano netted twice, plus Colin Stanley and Mica Pink scored.

Also going down to their fifth straight defeat were Kings AFC beaten 3-2 at Bromham United.Phill Kempshall twice and Antony Farr the United scorers against a brace in reply from Josh Clements.

Great Barford beat Lidlington United Sports 2-1.Daniel Stafford and Freddie Windram on target against a United penalty reply via John Smith.

Division Three

Pavenham are now five points clear after they preserved their 100 per cent record with a 2-1 win at Sharnbrook Reserves, who were dropping points for the first time. James Owen and Tom Ellis netted the vital goals against a home reply from Kevin Harris.

For second place M&DH Oakley, it was also a loss of their perfect record when held to a 4-4 draw at bottom side Shefford Town & Campton A. Eddie Kemp twice, plus Chris Clarke and Andrew Hayday, were on the mark for the home side against Oakley replies from Jamie McClenan (2), Jamie Underwood and Ben Johnson.

The biggest winners of the day were Riseley Sports, 5-0 victors at Caldecote A. Sami Gingell, Alan Spurgeon, Paul Brown, John Steele and Jimmy Grandidge all found the back of the net.

Also enjoying an away win were Cranfield United Reserves, 3-2 at Flitwick Town Reserves.James Armstrong, Mark Dring and Stefan Velikov all on the scoresheet against Town replies via an own goal plus Grant Archer.

For Renhold Village, it was a third home win on the bounce, 3-1 over Westoning Recreation Club Reserves. Carl Townsend, Dan Luke and Stuart Kester netted the goals against a lone reply from Liam Boyle.

Elsewhere, Royal Oak Kempston, with goals from Dean Boland and David Minney, were 2-0 home winners over Dunton Reserves. Co-op Sports and Wilshamstead Reserves shared the points from a 0-0 draw.

Division Four

AFC Turvey were to retain the perfect start and the leadership of division four the hard way, when they came from 4-1 down at home against Goldington to claim a 5-4 victory.Andrew Wren with a hat-trick plus John Guiney and Robin Ellis their goal heros after strikes from Damien Quigley, Karl Anderson, Robert Brown and James Morris had put the visitors in control.

Up into second place now are Thurleigh, who ran out 5-1 home winners over Goldington Hammers. Liam Boland with a brace plus Charlie Rogers, Dan Newton and Stefan Wilson were on target, Jordan Carter replied.

Eastcotts, beat Clifton Reserves 5-3. Adam Jaques with a brace plus goals from Tony Milloti, Michael Sexton and Dan Ellison were replied to by a brace from David Dice and a strike from Harry Fisher.

Potton Town, won 4-1 at Dinamo Flitwick, Chris Cooper twice, plus Tom Payman and Sam King goals doing the damage against a home reply from Dale Goldie.

Sandy Reserves won 2-1 at Wootton Village. Brad Dennis and Matt Gedney saw their goals replied to by Adam Flynn. Kempston Athletic gained a first point in a 2-2 draw at Lea Sports PSG Reserves. Lee Smith and Gary Whitbread on The Athletic scoresheet against goals from Callum Jones and Ryan Derby.

Stewartby Village won 4-2 Bedford Park Rangers. 2-0 down at half-time to goals from Roger Goff and Bruno De-Santos, back came The Village with a brace from Lee Collis plus strikes from Ben Sparks and James Greenslade to collect the full three points.
