Bedfordshire League: Shills go top

The new leaders of the Bedfordshire League Premier Division supported by Sportsform are Shillington following their 2-1 home win over Marston Shelton Rovers on Saturday.

It means they remain unbeaten at home. Christopher Slough and Ryan Lewis bagged the vital goals against the Rovers reply from Aaron Franks.

The Shills taking over the top spot from AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College who were held to a 0-0 draw at third place Lidlington United Sports.

The division’s top scorers of the day were fourth place Wilstead who took their unbeaten ways up to seven games with a 5-3 home victory over Flitwick Town, Daniel Stafford getting a hat-trick for the visitors.

Shefford Town & Campton saw off bottom side Sharnbrook 4-1 . Andrew Hayday and Michael Jones both scored twice against a lone reply via Matt Kemp.

Whilst Caldecote, at the expense of the non-playing Pavenham lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with a 3-2 home victory over Ickwell & Old Warden. Behind to a goal from Andrew Vallom in the third minute, they were level via Sam Welbury in the 15th minute and ahead on the hour mark with a strike from Jack Boyd then going 3-1 up 15 minutes from time after Ricky Aris struck before Dean Hamilton netted for the visitors two minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Wootton Blue Cross claimed their first victory for five outings with a 1-0 home win over AFC Oakley Sports M&DH thanks to a goal from Phil Matthews.

Bedfordshire Intermediate Cup Third Round

There was joy for four Bedfordshire County Football League clubs as they progressed into the quarter-final of this seasons competition. For AFC Turvey, it was a 5-0 home win over South Midlands League Stotfold Reserves. Courtney Boughton with a brace plus strikes from Andrew Wren and Harry Ellis plus a Lawrence Bentham penalty bringing up the nap hand. Whilst Elstow Abbey saw off Suburban League Barton Rovers Reserves in a penalty shoot-out at The Warren after the sides were deadlocked at 3-3 following 90 minutes play. Sam Donadio with a brace and Junior Ivy putting the Abbey 3-1 ahead before the Rovers struck in the 88th and 94th minute to take the tie to a shoot-out. During which Myles Ferraro, Jason Harrison, Junior Ivy, Robert Mirto, Celso Ferraz, Sam Donadio and Raoul Limoan all scored to take the shoot-out 7-6 but perhaps the real hero was goalkeeper John Cole who saved three of The Rovers penalties.

In the two all Bedfordshire County Football League clashes there were wins for Bedford Sports Athletic and Henlow. Athletic running out 3-1 home winners over current division one league leaders Goldington. It was the visitors who struck first via Damion Quigley in the seventh minute but within a space of three minutes the home side were 2-1 ahead after Andrew Latimer had struck twice and their victory sealed in the 67th minute with a goal from Ashlee Banton.

Meantime over at Crawley Road, Henlow won by the same 3-1 scoreline. George Kiely with a brace plus James Campbell on the scoresheet against a lone home reply from Martin Holland.

Alas for Bromham United it was a 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat at South Midlands League Crawley Green Reserves after the sides were deadlocked at 2-2 after 90 minutes thanks to a brace of goals from United’s Rob Byrne.

Division One

Sundon Park Rangers are now just goal difference behind Goldington at the head of the division one league table after they retained their seasons unbeaten home ways with a 2-1 victory over Marabese Ceramics who were losing for the first time in eight starts. Matt Conway and Kane Griffith on the home scoresheet against a reply from Brad Voought.

Luton Boys Seniors now find themselves without a win from their last seven starts after being held to a 1-1 home draw by Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Ali Mohlyaldeen on the home scoresheet and Ryan Dobson replying for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Eastcotts AFC took their unbeaten ways up to six games by sharing the spoils in a 0-0 draw at Brickhill Tigers.

Division Two

Potton Town’s 100% home record and seasons unbeaten ways were ended when they were defeated 3-1 by a Great Barford side winning their first away win of the season. Gary Canzano, Nick Payne and a David Mulvhill penalty only being replied to once by Town’s James Pyman.

All of which was good news for Potton United Reserves who having played a game less moved to within four points of them at the head of the league table after they netted a 5-1 home victory over Co-op Sports. Josh Everitt-Walton with a brace plus strikes from Steve Gibbons, Billy Albone and Kane Dempsey bringing up the nap hand against a lone reply from Charlie Cole.

For fourth place Queens Park Crescents it was a return to winning ways with a 4-2 home win over Cranfield United to end United’s unbeaten away record for the season. Fabio Sattar and Ayaz Hussain both netting twice against United replies via a Phil Kempsell penalty and David Adderson.

Just a point behind in fifth spot are Clifton who ran out 4-1 winners at Riseley Sports. Tony Norman, Gareth Boness, Lee Marshall and Lee Austin all finding the back of the net against a lone reply from Greg Moska.

Also winning on the road were Kings AFC with a 3-1 victory at Renhold United Reserves, Chris Greene, Tyrone Kelly and Jason Attoe seeing their goals only replied to once by Ollie Housden.

Whilst at Hillgrounds, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves shared the spoils with AFC Harlington in a 4-4 draw. Andrew Sherratt with a hat-trick plus Ashley Phelan on the home scoresheet against a hat-trick from Scott Gadsden and a strike from Robert Malcolm in reply.

Division Three

For the top two clubs it was a gift of three points after their opposition failed to raise a side to meet them. Kempston Hammers Sports failing to travel to meet league leaders Meltis Albion and Wilstead Reserves calling off their scheduled encounter at second place Stevington.

However, for third place Westoning it was a 4-1 home victory over AFC Bush. Glenn Robinson with a brace plus strikes from Nick Shirley and Samuel Roberts only being replied to once by Chris Moore. Whilst fourth place Kempston Athletic were also 4-1 home winners over Clifton Reserves thanks to a brace from James Maxwell and strikes from Gavin Matthews and Nicholas Ememe.

The top scorers of the day however were Elstow Abbey Reserves who made it four away wins on the bounce with a 9-0 victory at Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves. Lee Rosborough with a hat-trick, Aiden Powell with a brace plus strikes from Steve Capener, Errol Cornell, Lewis Duffield and Joe Hubbard doing the damage.

Elsewhere, Bedford Panthers took their unbeaten ways up to four games with a 2-1 home win over Kempston Con Club thanks to goals from Simon Wade and Gary Philipson.

Division Four

There is no change at the head of the division four league table following wins for the top three sides. League leaders FC Houghton retaining their seasons 100% home record with a 12-1 victory over Mid Beds Tigers. Lawrence Taylor and Mark Doran both netting four times, Valentino Ukeqbu twice plus Ashley Randall and Gary Rogers once against a lone reply from Tigers Lee Crouch.

For second place Meltis Albion Reserves it was a 6-2 victory at Clapham Sports. Josh St Clair Pierre and Keiran Walsh with braces supported by single strikes from Adam Cranny and Craig Damon to retain their sides 100% seasons ways against home replies via Nicholas Sepede and Liam Bolton. Whilst third place Wootton Village were 7-1 home winners over fourth place Cranfield United Reserves. Kudzan Madzivanyika and Sam Mulvaney netting twice alongside a penalty from Nick Burraway and strikes from Adam Flynn and Aiden Medhurst only being replied to once by United’s Peter Kerr.

Meantime, there were wins on the road for both Moggerhanger United and Bedford Park Rangers. United claiming their fourth away win on the bounce with a 5-1 victory at Shefford Town & Campton A where George Tyrer netted twice and Liam Donovan, Luke Rudd and Chris Hartwell once against a home strike from Josh Angell. Whilst The Rangers were 5-1 victors at Flitwick Town Reserves, Tony Anyannu netting twice alongside single goals for William Pinney, Andrew Darnell and Laurence James.

Elsewhere, Sandy Reserves with a brace of goals from Nicky Albone shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Atletico Europa whose replies came via Mushtak Alom and Raiqwan Joseph plus Dinamo Flitwick after four consecutive league defeats ran out 3-1 home winners over Caldecote A who have now lost their last five games. Josh Pearson doing all the damage with a hat-trick against a lone reply from Ryan Ambrose.
