Opening exchanges were bossed by Stotfold as half chances fell to L’Honore and Mark Ellis. Cockfosters saw a shot come back off the post, then home keeper Adam Harpur pulled off a stunning reaction save.

On 17 minutes L’Honore pounced on a loose ball and rocketed it into the roof of the net from edge of the box for the first.

L’Honore got his and Stotfold’s second 12 minutes later as he pressured the keeper following a short back pass and got his rewards as he finished from an acute angle.

In the second period Cockfosters were always going to come out firing. Their tempo was better and they pressed higher up the field but without any real clear cut chances as the Stotfold back four stood resolute and soaked up the pressure.

But with 15 minutes left Cockfosters got their rewards with a smart bit of forward play and Emmanuel Melford-Rowe’s drilled shot found the back of the net.

For the next 13 minutes Stotfold dropped deep and started to play on the break. With just a couple of minutes left sub Harry Orr ran down the left wing and drove his cross across the face of goal where a defender deflected it past his own keeper.

Stotfold’s match at home to Wembley on Saturday was postoned.

This weekend they host bottom side Oxhey Jets before visiting Cockfosters on Wednesday
