Caldecote go nap as Hatters crumble

CALDCOTE moved two points clear at the top of the Premier Division table with a 5-1 victory at Bedford Hatters on Saturdday. There was a brace for Tom Cookman and further strikes from Dave Daniels, Tom Wallace and Kai Griffiths-Shilton with the Hatters’ reply from Richard Cook.

Second place Oakley Sports lost their seasons 100 per cent away record when held to a 2-2 draw at Wilshamstead as Chris Faulkner and Colin Marshall bagged the home goals against an Ian Strange brace in reply.

However still 100 per cent on home soil are Blunham thanks to a 90th minute winner from Andy Smith. They were 2-1 victors against bottom of the table Renhold United who took the lead through Sheldon Washington on 65 minutes before Carl Page levelled 15 minutes later, Smith then becoming the match winner in the last action.

Also still unbeaten at home are AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College. They ran out 3-0 winners over Woburn after Paul Obuch netted twice and Daniel Church once.

Meanwhile Dunton collected their first away point as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw away to Sharnbrook. Ryan Massey put the home side ahead after 35 minutes but Daniel Whitten evened it up 20 minutes from time.

Division One

THERE are new Division One leaders in the shape of Ickwell & Old Warden this week all despite them losing their season’s 100 per cent record after being held in a 4-4 draw at FC Meppershall. Craig Damon, Joe Price, Kieron Langley and Matthew Ward were the home marksmen with replies from Lee Threadgold twice, Anup Kalyan plus an Andrew Vallom penalty kick.

Ickwell take over the top spot from Lidlington United Sports who drop to third after losing 2-0 at Marston Shelton Rovers where Jamie Cerminara and Barrington Belgrave netted the vital goals.

Up to second on goal difference are Bedford Sports Athletic who retained their season’s 100 per cent home record with a 2-1 victory over Lea Sports PSG. All three goals came in the second period, Andrew Latimer (who had earlier missed from the penalty spot) and Ashley Mead for the hosts against a PSG reply from Ryan Woolfe.

Top scorers were Caldecote Reserves. They retained their season’s unbeaten home ways with an 8-1 win over Luton Boys thanks to Matt Basta and Jack Gabbitas who both netting hat-tricks alongside an own goal plus a strike from Tom Dupuy, the lone Luton goal from Metlin Baylam.

Henlow recorded their first home win of the season, a 5-1 victory over Westoning. Joe Follano, Charlie Richardson, Jake Renney, Dean Johnson and Mark McMillan all found the back of the net against a lone reply from Ryan Perry.

Also enjoying their first home win were Kings AFC who were 3-0 winners over Meltis Albion. Chris Greene netting twice and Danny Cain once to end The Albion’s unbeaten away run for the season.

And making it a hat-trick of first home wins were Sandy as goals from Daniel Stafford and Rob Tapley saw them beat AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves 2-0.

Division Two

FOR Division Two leaders AFC Turvey, they retained their season’s unbeaten ways with a 5-2 home victory over Sundon Park Rangers. Mike Stephenson bagged a brace with singles for Martin Page, John Guiney and Andrew Wren, the two replies from Nicky Buttigieg and Sam Chapman.

Turvey’s lead is now up to three points after second placed Elstow Abbey were required to come from 2-0 down at Co-op Sports to earn a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Scott Davis netted twice for the Co-op before Dave McCarthy and Tom Pitts salvaged Abbey’s unbeaten run.

Still in third and holding down their 100 per cent away record are Pavenham who won 2-1 at Stopsley Park thanks to Tom Rodger and Nick Atkins, the home reply from Lee West.

M&DH Oakley made it three wins on the bounce when a lone goal from Jamie McLennan took them to a 1-0 home win over the previously unbeaten away from home Clifton.

Queens Park Crescents secured their first home win of the season by beating Potton United Reserves 4-1 thanks to Aman Hussain (two), Ayaz Hussain and Shah Rahman, United’s reply from Amit Aghera.

Also enjoying their first home win of the season were Bromham United. They ran out 3-0 victors over Shefford Town & Campton Reserves thanks to Phill Kempshall, Shane Canzano and a Sam Jones penalty.

Unfortunately Great Barford’s first win of the season is still to come after they were beaten 2-0 at home by a Marabese Ceramics side who were winning for the first time on the road this season thanks to goals from Todd Gormer and Romano Marabese.

Division Three

IT’S as you were in Division Three after the leading four sides came up with victories. Leaders Goldington won 3-0 at Westoning Reserves with goals from James Morris, Kane Alexander and Chris Hutchinson.

They stay ahead on goal-difference from second place Stevington who retained their unbeaten ways with a 2-1 win at Potton Town. Aaron Fletcher and Clinton Tatham were on the scorsheet against a home reply from Chris Cooper.

Biggest winners of the day were third place Renhold Village who retained their 100 per cent home record with a 7-1 win over Wilshamstead Reserves.

Carl Townsend and Michael Luke both netting hat-tricks alongside a strike from Dan Luke, Matt Johnson scoring the Wilstead consolation.

For fourth placed Cranfield United Reserves there was a 2-1 win at Eastcotts AFC to end the home side’s unbeaten home run. Mark Dring and Dan Cockerton were on the United scoresheet against a reply from Michael Sexton.

Also enjoying life on the road were both Royal Oak Kempston and Kempston Hammers. With goals from Jazz Sohal, Jason Beddall and James Grandidge, the Hammers ended Sundon Park Rangers Colts unbeaten home run with a 3-2 victory despite strikes from Cameron Forbes and Mike Brunton.

The Oak won 3-0 at Flitwick Town Reserves thanks to a James Pickard brace and a single from Brendan Cunningham.

Division Four

BEDFORD Park Rangers remain three points clear in Division Four after they retained their season’s 100 per cent away record with a 4-2 victory at Stewartby Village. Shaun Finlay, Josh Geary, Elliot West and Matthew Westwood were all on the scoresheet against a home brace from Michael Darnell.

Second placed Marsh Leys still have a game in hand over Park Rangers after running out 3-0 home winners over Dunton ‘A’ to retain their own unbeaten ways. Chris Neal netting two and Alex Clipston one to leave the visitors still looking for their first win of the season.

In third spot Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves who won 3-0 at home to Kempston Athletic thanks to Matthew McCartney (two) and Graham Weddell. Also winning 3-0 were Thurleigh against ‘win-less’ Bedford Panthers. Ben Stock, Salvtore Ventriglia and Josh Pierre St Clare netted the goals to retain their sides 100 per cent away record.

But enjoying their first home win of the season were Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’ who ran out 5-2 victors over Wootton Village. Adam Larsen netting three times alongside single strikes from Michael Jones and Scott Dora, the Village replies from Adam Flynn and Lewis Aitken.

Caldecote ‘A’l remain unbeaten at home following a 2-2 draw with Dinamo Flitwick after Jordan Goodman and Neil Giles were on the scoresheet, the Flitwick replies from Barrie Lee Hannam and Joe Burton.

Goldington Hammers lost their winning home record when held to a 4-4 draw by a Sandy Reserves side which is now unbeaten in its last three outings. Hammers’ Gareth Shrimpton, Jimmy Jacob, Jason Nice and Ryan Hutton saw their goals cancelled out by Sandy replies from Jonnie Stratford (two), Matt Baines and Chris Gregory.
