Caldecote through to quarter-finals

FROM the six Bedfordshire County League clubs competing in the second round of the Beds FA Senior Trophy, only Caldecote made it into the hat for the quarter-final draw following their 5-3 home victory over SSML Division One side Cranfield United after Jack Gabbitas bagged four goals with the other from Russell Kemp.

Renhold United went out 4-3 in extra time at home to Totternhoe, with goals from Jason Allison, Ollie Housden and Jamie Lally all in vian.

At Rectory Road, an Andrew Hayday goal saw Shefford Town & Campton lead AFC Kempston Rovers at half time but the UCL Division One side ran out 2-1 winners with goals from Josh Bamford and Kofi Schulz.

Oakley Sports levelled at 1-1 against Potton United through Justin Patterson but the UCL side ended up winning 3-1 with goals from Sam Crow, Joe Aris and finally Laurence Revell 13 minutes from time – full report page 102.

Blunham were also beaten 3-1 at home by AFC Dunstable, Neville Allen their goalscorer, while Wilshamstead were beaten 4-2 at home by Kent Athletic despite strikes from Paul Jones and Jack Wicks.

Premier Division

SHARBROOK made it three wins on the bounce to climb to eighth spot with a 3-1 home win over Leighton United. Andy Wood, Luke Devine and Tom King netted the goals, United’s reply from Paul Darton.

And Woburn ended a barren run of five games without a victory with a 2-0 home success over Flitwick Town thanks to Ben Nicholls and Martin Holland.

MARSTON Shelton Rovers were toppled as leaders and lost their 100 per cent record after losing 4-2 to Potton Wanderers who take over top spot. Craig Schurek (two), Danny Fox and Sam Worthington were on target for Wanderers with Rovers replies from Antony Henham and Jamie Cerinara.

Bedford Hatters retained their 100 per cent home run with a 4-0 win over AFC Kempston Town Reserves thanks to Darek Jozwiak (two), Mark Reed and Simon Pixley.

Also winning 4-0 at home win were Bedford Sports Athletic against bottom side Luton Old Boys thanks to Ashley Mead’s hat-trick and Paul Nigro strike.

Top scorers were Sandy. They won 6-4 at home against Meltis Albion as Tommy Simpson led the way with a hat-trick alongside further strikes from Craig Baker, Ian Hammett and Charlie Seward, Albion’s replies from Salvatore Ventriglia (two), Daniel Wells and Alex Goosby.

Henlow preserved their unbeaten home run with a 5-0 victory over Brache Sparta Community Reserves thanks to Shaun Faulkner, Adam Mardell, Jake Rennie, Neil Spencer and Keith Purslow.

Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves are still searching for their first home win after being held in a 2-2 draw by FC Meppershall. Lee Threadgold’s penalty and Ricky Aris were on target for the hosts against replies from Christian Robinson and Danny Wing.

Division Two

QUEENS Park Crescents had their unbeaten away run brought to a sensational end when losing 7-1 at second place Arlesey Social Galacticos, who retained their seasons 100 per cent home run. Jonathon Rowe netted four alongside further strikes from James Mason, Chris Robinson and Sekh Sohal.

Third placed Lea Sports PSG had their six game unbeaten run ended when losing 3-1 at Elstow Abbey. Harry Ellis (two) and Mark Nicholson were on target for Abbey against a reply from Martin Collins.

Fourth in the table Clifton failed to climb above them in the standings after losing for the first time this season - 2-1 at home by Kings AFC. Lee Morgan and John Watts were the Kings’ scorers against a reply from Steve Albone.

Up to fifth are Bromham United who were 8-2 winners at home to bottom of the table Kempston Hammers Sports. A David Baxter hat-trick, Keith Thomas with two and single strikes from Antony Farr, Dean Waghorn and Robin Bryne did the damage, the replied from Steve Walker and Ryan Brownlie.

Lidlington United Sports were 7-3 winners at home to Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Alex Burrows bagged a hat-trick, Jonathan Smith a brace along with singles from Ben Marwood and Darren Simms, the replies from Graham Dilley, Alex Toye and Wayne Haxton.

The division’s lone away win of the day belonged to Marabese Ceramics. They were 3-0 victors at Harpur FC thanks to goals from James Maden, Darren Payne and Jake Flurry.

Division Three

TABLE-topping Pavenham made it ten wins from ten outings to remain five points clear following a 4-3 victory at Sundon Park Rangers. James Owen bagged a brace along with singles for Alan Craigen and Michael Bates, the replies from Matthew Conway (two) and Nicky Buttigieg.

Second in the table M & DH Oakley retained their unbeaten ways with a 6-0 win at Westoning Recreation Club Reserves after Jamie Underwood and James Dean both netted twice along with single strlkes from Tommy Dove and Adam Emms.

Co-op Sports also kept their promotion hopes alive with a 3-1 win at Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’. Ashley Jordan netted a brace along with another for Thomas Furr, the home reply from Sean Francis.

Also winning on the road were Riseley Sports. They romped in 5-0 at Royal Oak Kempston for their fourth win on the bounce. Jimmy Grandidge scored twice along with goals for Gareth Shimpton, Sami Gingell and Mark Brown.

Renhold Village picked up their first away point of the season thanks to 3-3 draw at Dunton Reserves where Carl Townsend, Simon Wade and Craig Thompson were on the scoresheet against home replies from Nicky Albone (two) and Paul Beith.

The day’s final Third Division game saw Flitwick Town Reserves bag a 4-2 home win over Caldecote ‘A’ after Grant Archer scored a hat-trick and James Taylor one against replies from Steve Bush and Carl Heaph.

Division Four

THE result of the day belonged to Eastcotts who were 10-1 winners at home to Wootton Village and they remaining 100 per centon home soil this season. They also leap-frogged non-playing Thurleigh into second spot. Tony Milioti led the way with four, Ben Eagles had two alongside an own goal plus strikes from Ciaran Alexander, Matty Walsh and Michael Sexton. Village’s reply came from Nick Spence.

Fellow promotion chasers Goldington and Dinamo Flitwick also won. Dinamo, with goals from Alex Sommers and Michael Abbott against a reply from Tom Fulbrook, were 2-1 winners against visitors Sandy Reserves while Goldington scored twice through Karl Anderson and once thanks to Robert Brown as they beat Potton Town 3-0.

Goldington Hammers also edged closer to the promotion race with a 5-3 win at Bedford Park Rangers thanks to Jimmy Jacob and Scott Jacob who each scored twice alongside another for Sean Shankland, Rangers’ replies from Michael Patterson, Shaun Finlay and Joshua Geary.

Clifton Reserves returned to winning ways for the first time in eight games with a 5-4 victory at bottom of the table Kempston Athletic. Jason Woodhouse with a brace, plus strikes from Dave Humphrey, David Dice and Sam Mills outgunning Athletic replies via Gary Whitbread twice plus Adam Maloney and Jamie Marsh.

The final game of the day brought Lea Sports PSG Reserves their first away win of the season, 2-1 at Stewartby Village. Hassem Raja netting both goals against a home reply from Kyle Smith.
