Biggleswade FC Reserves lifted the Bedfordshire County League Supplementary Cup following an extraordinary fightback and penalty shoot-out victory against Cranfield United at Crawley Road.

Cranfield had looked set to win the competition after moving into a two-goal lead with just under 20 minutes to go thanks to a goal in each half by Henry Mungwira and Josh Sturniolo.

However, with 13 minutes remaining, Kian Coles halved the deficit for FC after Ozz Smith had been fouled in the box.

Then, with seconds of the regulation 90 minutes remaining, substitute Jack Dreyer popped up to volley home a dramatic equaliser.

That meant the final would have to be decided on spot-kicks and, after trading a successful penalty apiece, Dreyer had his effort saved.

The Cranes wasted their opportunity to take control, blazing the next over with Kian Coles and Courtney Boughton scored theirs to level up at 2-2 after three.

Seventeen-year-old Hayden Baker showed tremendous maturity to tuck away his penalty to put the pressure firmly on goalscorer Sturniolo.

For the second time in the shoot-out, a home penalty found its way into the car park, leaving Smith with the chance to win it for FC.

It was perhaps fitting that he would have the chance to wrap up the silverware after playing such an influential part in this match and he didn’t disappoint, ramming the ball down the middle to spark wild scenes of celebrations for FC.
