Hatters close in on non-playing Cally

WITH Caldecote sitting the afternoon out, their nearest Premier Division rivals are now Bedford Hatters after they netted their fourth win on the bounce – a 4-3 home victory over what were second placed side Shefford Town & Campton.

This result which now means The Town drop down the standings to fourth spot. Scott Alleyne, Simon Pixley, Richard Cook and Ashley Deverall on target for the Hatters against Town replies from Michael Jones (two) and Tom Scurfield.

Up to third are Arlesey Town Reserves despite being held to a 3-3 draw at Woburn. Wayne Smith, Mark Ellis and Josh Howard-Dobson were on the scoresheet against home replies from Martin Holland, Daniel McClaren and Scott Pawley. The result earned the point that lifts the Safari Boys off the bottom at the expense of Dunton.

Dunton are now without a win in their last seven outings after losing 6-0 at Oakley Sports. Shaun Barnett and Jamie Lally netted two apiece alongside single strikes from Harry Atherton and Mark Smith to end Oakley’s run of four games without a victory and hold on to fifth spot in the league standings.

Now up to sixth are Blunham. They returned to winning ways for the first time in three outings with a 4-1 home win over Wilshamstead who they now leap-frog above in the league table.

Matthew McMahon bagged a hat-trick together with strikes from Sam Lewis only being replied to by Matt Rosborough.

Elsewhere, AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College lost their season’s unbeaten home record after losing 5-1 against Renhold United who were collecting their first away points of the season.

Justin Patterson netted a hat-trick plus strikes from Sheldon Washington and Ben Brown only being replied to by Roy Murnane.

The three points lifts United out of the bottom three at the expense of Flitwick Town who have failed to win any of their last 10 games after being beaten 1-0 at Sharnbrook.

Ben Singleton netted the goal to end his club’s run of five games without a win.

Division One

MARSTON Shelton Rovers lead at the head of the league table is now up to two points following their 6-1 home win over Kings AFC to take them to their fifth win on the bounce and retain their season’s unbeaten home record. Alan Cudjoe with a hat-trick plus goals from Lee Dudley, Peter Kerr and Mark Champkin only being replied to by Ollie Plested.

Dropping down the league table from second to fourth are Lidlington United Sports, they had their season’s 100 per cent home record destroyed when Lea Sports PSG held them to a 1-1 draw at Hurst Grove. John Smith on target for United against a PSG reply via Dean Barnes.

Taking over the second spot are Ickwell & Old Warden, they retained their season’s unbeaten ways on the road with a 3-2 win at Westoning. Lee Threadgold with a brace plus Anup Kalyan finding the back of the net against a brace in reply from Ali Smith.

Third spot in the table now belongs to Bedford Sports Athletic who ran out 4-1 home winners over Luton Boys. An Ashley Mead penalty giving them a 1-0 half-time lead before an own goal plus strikes from Andrew Latimer and James Mead against a lone reply via Hayder Sal took them to their third consecutive win.

For Sandy, it was a fifth win on the bouce to retain fifth place in the table via a 4-2 home win over Caldecote Reserves. Daniel Stafford with a hat-trick plus a goal from Ian Hammett only being replied to by Tom Dupuy and Jack Gabbitas.

The biggest winners of the day were sixth place FC Meppershall, for them it was a 11-0 home win over a Meltis Albion side who played the entire 90 minutes with just nine men. Jamie McGregor striking three times alongside braces of goals from James Field, Craig Damon and Kerion Langley.

Elsewhere, a lone goal from Andy Newton took Henlow to a 1-0 home win over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves.

Division Two

ELSTOW Abbey’s lead at the head of the league table is now down to just goal difference after their season’s 100 per cent home record was broken when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sundon Park Rangers, a point that now lifts Rangers to third. Matthew Conway giving them the lead before Tom Pitts squared matters level for the Abbey.

For second placed AFC Turvey it was a 5-0 home win over Marabese Ceramics, Mark Allen (two), Daniel Bailey, Andrew Wren and Chris Winton netted the goals.

Elsewhere, for start of play third placers and now fourth in the league standings Pavenham, it was a 2-1 defeat at Co-op Sports. An own goal plus a strike from Chris Vardy only being replied to by James Owen.

Down at the other end of the league table, Great Barford were sent to their tenth consecutive defeat when beaten 3-0 at Clifton who thus ended their own six game losing run.

Scott Walker, Paul Rowe and Andrew Mussett netting the vital goals. Following the game, Great Barford manager Richard Wheatley relinquished his position at the helm with the club immediately installing former manager Scott Moses into the hot seat to replace him.

Meanwhile Queens Park Crescents five game winning run was halted at Stopsley Park who held them to a 3-3 draw thanks to goals from Lee West, Rob Wilson and Shane Roberts.

At The Hollow, Potton United Reserves netted a 4-3 home win over Bromham United. Graham Tibbals and Sam Worthington both claimed braces against replies from Shane Contanzo, Alex Farr and Dean Waghorn.

The day’s final action in this division bringing about a 3-1 home win for Shefford Town & Campton Reserves over M & DH Oakley, Jordan Robbens netting twice and Sam Martin once against a lone reply from Lee Osmond.

Division Three

GOLDINGTON’S lead at the head of the league table is now up to three points following their 7-3 home win over Kempston Hammers Sports and Stevington’s 1-0 defeat at Wilshamstead Reserves.

Chris Huckle with a hat-trick plus braces of goals from Brian Day and Justin Muircraft on the Goldington scoresheet against a hat-trick reply from Hammers’ Jimmy Grandidge.

Whilst Jay Hall netted the Wilshamstead Reserves goal that ended Stevington’s unbeaten away ways for the season at the Jubilee Playing Fields.

Third placed Cranfield United Reserves are now unbeaten in their last seven outings after running out 3-1 winners at Potton Town. James Armstrong, Stuart Pearce and James Kinns seeing their goals only replied to by Tom Grinstead for The Town.

Still very much in the title race are fourth place Renhold Village, they retained their season’s 100 per cent home ways with a 3-0 victory over Royal Oak Kempston. Marko Tubdzic netting twice and Carl Townsend once to end The Oak’s three game winning run.

Having lost their last five outings, Sundon Park Rangers Colts returned to winning ways with a 6-0 home win over now bottom of the table Dunton Reserves. Ashley Wadhams with a hat-trick, plus Mike Brunton twice and Luke Dolan netting the goals to do the damage.

Off the bottom are Flitwick Town Reserves, they claimed their first win of the season in a 3-1 home victory over Westoning Reserves. Ben Wallington was the hat-trick hero against a lone Chris Rogers reply.

Whilst the final action of the day saw Riseley Sports return to winning ways for the first time in four outings with a 4-3 home win over Eastcotts AFC. Tom Ellison netting twice alongside strikes from Peter Baish and Paul Brown against Eastcott’s replies via Courtney Broughton twice and Michael Sexton.

Division Four

BEDFORD Park Rangers lead at the head of the league table is now down to just three points after second place Thurleigh ended their season’s unbeaten ways with a 2-0 win to retain their own 100 per cent away record for the season.

However Thurleigh had to do it the hard way after Patrick Mulvihill was red-carded just 38 minutes into the contest, but goals on 55 minutes from David Mulvihill and on 78 minutes from Ben Stock took them to their fifth consecutive win.

Now in third place are Stewartby Village, they ran out 3-2 home winners over Wootton Village. Ben Sparks, James Greenslade and a Ryan Collis penalty outscoring goals from Adam Flynn and Tom Beattie.

The Village taking over third place from Marsh Leys who were beaten 4-1 on home soil by Sandy Reserves, Jonnie Stratford netted a hat-rick plus a strike from Matt Baines only being replied to by Lewis Osborne.

Edging closer to the promotion mix are Shefford Town & Campton ‘A, they ran out 3-2 home winners over Caldecote A to take their unbeaten ways up to five games.

Lee Shambrook hit a brace plus Jake Brown seeing their goals only replied to by Ryan Ambrose and Nicky Albone and thus Caldecote were beaten for the first time in seven outings.

Losing their season’s unbeaten away ways were Clifton Reserves in a 3-1 defeat at Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves, Matthew McCartney doing all the damage with a hat-trick against a lone reply from Nick Thomas.

After seven straight defeats, Dunton ‘A’ climbed off the bottom with their first win of the season in a 4-2 home victory over Kempston Athletic. Nicky Threadgold three times and David Pugh once netting the goals against a brace in reply from Gary Whitbread.

Now sitting bottom of the pile are Dinamo Flitwick, they were beaten 4-3 at Goldington Hammers. Jason Nice, Michael Stafford, Ashley Lanik and Jimmy Jacob on The Hammers scoresheet against replies via Barrie Lee Hannam twice and Scott Hannam.
