Langford slumped to a disappointing 3-0 loss against Ampthill on Tuesday night.

The game kicked off in heavy rain, with each team trying to adapt to the greasy conditions.

After four minutes Langford’s defensive frailties were exposed when a cross found Aaron Ramsey in space, and his shot never gave Bodger in the Langford goal no chance.

Ampthill continued to have most of the possession, with Langford seemingly unable to string two passes together. From a free-kick Johnson shot over the bar, but Ramsey continued to find space as Ampthill pushed forward and he tamely chipped into Bodger’s hands.

Langford did get some possession, with Waite threading the ball to Johnson who had his shot cleared.

Langford’s spell of pressure continued; Mallett could not get a shot off from close range. A corner followed that was partly cleared and a free-kick resulted, with the shot being blocked.

As play moved from end to end, the best chance fell to Langford, with Johnson hitting the bar.

The second half started with a lacklustre Langford side struggling to hold Ampthill at bay, and in the 61st minute, the ball was crossed from the left and a Langford defender headed it into his own net for 2-0.

From the restart Ampthill attacked and, within a minute, Ramsey played the ball past a despairing Bodger to Carl Ramsey who scored into an empty net to seal the win.
