Langford coasted to a 5-0 win at home to Marston Shelton Rovers in the Beds Senior Trophy First round on Saturday.

From the kick-off Langford were almost caught napping Alex burrows ran onto a long ball, then failed to control it, allowing the ball to run through to the keeper Dan Eely.

This clearly woke the Reds up and one minute later following a cross from the right, Josh Wilsun passed the ball to the far post where Gareth Head finished well, comprehensively beating Ryan Milton in the Marston goal.

Langford continued to play football and press, and in the 4th minute Matt Kenneford latched onto a ball from Nathan Mallett and shot in for 2-0.

Now it was all Langford who had almost total possession, Marston under pressure gave away a free-kick near the corner of their penalty box. Quick thinking by Ryan Nicholl, who in the 8th minute, took a quick kick to Nathan Mallett who shot home from close range.

Still Langford continued to play the ball around, with Stephen Brooks shooting just over the bar, and then Josh Wilsun when trying to chip the keeper had the shot saved. Marston rallied a little and restricted most of Langford’s play to midfield areas.

Then in the 25th minute William Sells burst into the Marston area only to be bought down. Up stepped Luke Nicholl to slot home the penalty.

The Reds continued to dominate with Matt Kenneford hitting the bar following a move involving Gareth Hunt, then after 34 minutes Josh Wilsun fed the ball to Nathan Mallett who shot past the Marston keeper.

Marston fought back and fashioned a couple of chances, but never looked to have the confidence to score.

Marston started the second half with a rush, resulting in a tame shot straight at Dan Eely. Marston upped their game and played better following their half time team talk held on the pitch. This along with Langford looking like they thought they had it won resulted a midfield scrap, with neither team looking likely to score.
