Langford’s FA Vase hopes ended in a 3-0 defeat at home to Bedfont Sports on Saturday.
Bedfont attacked from the kick-off. Read had an early shot wide of the far post, followed by a run and cross by Thomas with Fearn shooting over the Langford bar.
The Reds mounted their first proper attack which resulted in a corner which Scotney took only for Dogbe to head wide from six yards out.
Langford gained in confidence and were putting together good passing moves. On 15 minutes following a Mallett run, Johnson had a fierce shot which Richardson, in the Bedfont goal, could only parry onto a defender, the ball then ending back in the grateful keeper’s arms.
Langford were creating most of the pressure, Bedfont being restricted to breaking on the counter with speed in the wide areas. But after 26 minutes Chris Johnson was stretchered off, this unsettled Langford’s rhythm of play and Bedfont came back into the game. On 40 minutes Thomas crossed from the right, Read found the space and the shot to score at the far post
The second half started with end to end action with neither team seriously posing a goal threat.
Thomas broke through, using his pace, to get one on one with Bodger, who saved with his feet. Langford attacked with Hunt unable to reach a cross following a move by Kenneford and Mallett. On 67 minutes Thomas again used his pace to get behind the Langford defence and crossed for Ocansey to tap in at the far post.
Both teams continued to play to their strengths, Langford playing a passing game, and Bedfont using their speed in wide areas. On 85 minutes Ocansey sprinted clear of the Reds defence and shot low into the corner of the net, to score his second 0-3.
There was time for Langford to try to salvage something, their best chance being a shot by Butler which bought a good save out of Richardson.
