Langford return from Brimsdown with victory

Langford claimed another three points with a 2-1 victory at an improving Brimsdown side on Saturday.

On the immaculate 3G pitch, with the blustery wind and rain behind them, the hosts had the early pressure while Langford took time to adjust to the surface.

Tom Simmons came close with a header for Brimsdown. They continued to make, but not take, chances with Langford being content to play on the break.

Just before the half hour Pat Daly ran the channel into the Brimsdown penalty area and was chopped down. Up stepped Michael Moss to convert the penalty and give Langford the lead.

Brimsdown faded allowing the visitors to build possession and finish the half the stronger side.

The second period started at a frantic pace with the game moving from end to end, but the Reds played the better football.

Their possession forced Brimsdown to defend deeper, restricting them to breakaway chances.

Langford’s Dylan Gittens picked up the ball wide left, just in his own half. He set off on a run, beating four defenders, showing good pace and presence of mind to square the ball to Daly, who thumped the ball home from close range.

Brimsdown had the last word when, in the fifth minute of added time, Mustafa El-Azouzi planted a free kick firmly in the top corner.
